Watery Getaway 
The image of summer days spent at a cabin alongside a Northwoods lake drives many a frenzied vacation search this time of year. But finding that perfect spot can require laborious searches through out-of-date Webs sites or tons of local brochures.

That kind of frustration powered the development of LakePlace.com, a Richfield, Minn.-based clearinghouse for vacation properties in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Renters or buyers can log on to nearly 4,000 listings of properties or resorts in the two states.

Listings are broken down by region. Each carries a photograph and brief description of the property along with such information as: lot type, body of water it is located on, number of bedrooms and bathrooms and whether pets are allowed.
