Of all the reasons to own waterfront property there is usually one requirement at the top of the list, "a great view of the water." From this building site, not quite a bluff, more of a steep wooded hillside down to the water, you can see upriver for about a mile and downriver for about half a mile. For a couple of weeks each summer the sun sets just right; right where the river bends so it appears as if the suns rays form the river's headwaters. Looking down into the water you can see the sand, gravel and rock of the riverbed, and sometimes, an occasional fish. Across the river largely undeveloped forestlands stretch away into the distance.
This wooded overlook is on the appropriately named Eagles Point stretch of the Menominee River. Halfway between Wausaukee and Marinette in Marinette County; Crivitz is the nearby village that most people have heard of. The drive from Green Bay takes only an hour, ninety minutes from Appleton, and two and a half hours from Milwaukee. It'd be worth it to make the five hour drive from the Twin Cities and save the hundreds of thousands of extra dollars it takes to buy on the St. Croix River or the Mississippi River.
