The cabin itself looks westward atop a grassy, tree-covered bank, with a manageable stairway down to the water and boat-shed. This offers a great view of the lake and surrounding area.

During the warm months, there's a long dock over the water, and plenty of room for swimming and tying up a boat.

It's an active lake, while not too crowded, making it a great place to indulge in your water pleasures. Big Birch Lake also boasts great fishing year round, and Big Birch State Forest (Charles A Lindbergh State Park) is minutes away, hosting miles of beautiful wooded trails.

There are also a couple of small towns nearby: Grey Eagle, Melrose, and St. Rosa, each having a grocery/market, bars/pubs, churches, and other small-town frills.
